Lisa Winstanley is an Assistant Professor in the School of Art, Design & Media at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. With over 20 years of commercial design experience and a decade of work as a design educator and researcher, she has made significant contributions to the field of visual communication.
Her creative work has garnered over 50 international awards, including a Red Dot Design Award, four A’Design Awards, four Gold Graphis Awards, and a Platinum Spark Award. Lisa’s designs have been showcased at more than 100 exhibitions across 30 countries, featuring venues like the Oculus in New York, Moholy-Nagy University of Art & Design in Budapest, the National Museum of Art in Bolivia, and the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in South Korea.
Lisa’s scholarly research explores the intersections of ethical design practices and pedagogies for interdisciplinary collaboration, with an emphasis on developing visual literacy. More specifically, she investigates transformative strategies to address visual plagiarism in art and design, emphasising the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. By enabling designers to co-create alongside key stakeholders, she aims to develop life-centric design solutions tailored to the needs of specific communities. To facilitate such collaborations, she examines the tools, systems and resources requisite to foster effective and meaningful partnerships.
